The Golden Visa program helps citizens of various countries who would like to get a second citizenship to get a Spanish residency and eventually a citizenship by investing more than 500,000 EUR in the Spanish real estate industry, either as a residential or commercial propery.

Below we have tried to summarize all you need to know about the Spanish Golden Visa program.
  • Applicant must be committed to the investment prior to applying for the visa:
    • Application can be made once contract for sale has been signed and prior to completion of sale at notary
    • Funds for investment must be ready in a Spanish bank account at time of application
  • Application for the first Spanish residency visa takes 10-15 days and is issued for 1 year
  • Application can be renewed after this period for a further 2 years and renewed as such to maintain residency status
  • After 5 years, residents can apply for permanent residency and need to provide proof of travel to Spain at least once during each visa period – 6 month living period in Spain is often waived if regular visits to Spain are made by the applicant
  • After 5 years, investors may apply for Spanish Citizenship if investment is still held and main business interests are in Spain
